The eBay Research Labs is a team of domain area experts and researchers. As such, the labs is looking for qualified individuals who are self-starters and thought leaders in their research areas - people passionate about experimentation and building systems. The labs is currently hiring computer scientists, engineers, mathematicians, statisticians, economists, linguists, and those in related fields.
Primary Job Responsibilities
- Conduct research in areas of technology associated with the operation and evolution of eBay's business systems
- Support the research activities of other members of the research labs
- Develop rapid prototypes to showcase new business ideas or the capabilities of emerging enabling technologies
- Participate in evolving business and technology innovation ideas and developing them to align with the business strategies
Job Requirements
- Masters, Ph.D. or equivalent in a technical field with experience related to transactional and/or data-mining systems,search engines, or ecommerce sites
- Excellent C++ or Java programming skills
- Web server technologies (Tomcat/JBoss/WebSphere/WebLogic), JSF, JSP and related technologies, XML, XSL, Javascript, AJAX preferred
- Highly creative and innovative in problem solving and willing to experiment with new ideas and technologies
- Strong leadership skills, , an ability to learn quickly, and a "can-do" attitude
- Excellent interpersonal skills and presentation skills, including the ability to communicate effectively in small and large groups, and at various levels of the organization
