Fan Yang joined the New Product Development team at eBay Inc. as a Research Scientist in April 2016. His research focus is computer vision, which includes visual search, fine-grained classification, and object localization, using deep learning. He is also working on product development to convert research into commercial and user-oriented applications.
He obtained his Ph.D. in Computer Science at the University of Maryland, College Park in 2016, where he was also affiliated with the University of Maryland Institute for Advanced Computer Studies (UMIACS). He has a broad interest in computer vision and machine learning, such as visual search, object tracking and detection, face recognition, person re-identification and deep learning. Specifically, he has extensively worked on multi-feature fusion for image search and re-ranking, scalable video-based face verification, convolutional neural networks for efficient object detection, and several DARPA and IARPA projects. He received his Master degree from Dalian University of Technology, China in 2011.
He has over 20 publications in premier conferences and journals, including CVPR, ICCV, ACCV, WACV, and IEEE Transactions on Image Processing, etc. He is an active reviewer for 10+ journals and conferences.
