- Put in your original item title here. or eg: LOUIS VUITTON BROWN LEATHER BAG
- The resulting page will show the
- Original item title that you started your session with.
- The modified item title that includes all the changes you are making.
- The length in characters of your modified item title.
- The buyer search query you must now choose to optimize your title for.
- You can either type a search query by yourself, or better still, the results page also shows a list of buyer search queries, along with data for each. You must scroll down and click on the query that you think buyers would use when looking for items like yours. In this example, louis vuitton would be a good first choice. Click on it.
- The resulting page now will contain significantly more data.Three new tables will be added:
- A break-up of your title's keywords.
- A table with keyword data for the buyer search query you chose.
- A table with listing category suggestions for your item.
- The first table simply breaks up your title into individual keywords. The second row shows the desirability score for each keyword based upon the chosen buyer search query. You must remember that the desirability score of a particular keyword might be totally different based upon the buyer search query you have chosen. For example, when a buyer searches for "ipod", the word "new" will probably have high desirability, but if the buyer searches for "antique", the word "new" will probably have low desirability. In this example, the desirabilities are based upon the search louis vuitton.
Remember, when a buyer performs that search on eBay, ALL items in the result will contain the words present in the search query. It is the OTHER words in the titles which differentiate them from each other. Therefore, in this tool, when you select a working search query, the keywords present in that query do not count toward the title's score and are grayed out. Only the remaining keywords are scored.
- Keyword Suggestion Data Table:
When you choose a search query from the first list, lets say louis vuitton, a second table then shows the desirability scores for a large number of keywords. You can click to add keywords from this list to your item title. You can also change the sort order of this table, to see keywords which buyers disliked seeing in item titles when searching for louis vuitton.

The first table on the left contains a list of all the buyer search queries the system could find, that would lead to your item being found in search results. It is YOUR job to choose the correct search query to optimize your title against, because, again, the desirability scores for a particular keyword in your title are different for every search query.
Click on a search query to see how your item stacks up against it. If you type in a search query in the "Choose a search query" box, and data is available for that query, it will automatically become highlighted in this table.
-
For popular products, you might need to optimize your title for several queries. For one of a kind or uncommon things, you might need to work on optimizing for just one search.
- The BayEstimate of a listing title, given a search query, is derived as a function of the desirability scores of the keywords in the title.
-
The BayEstimate shown for each search estimates how well your title will perform when a buyer performs that search. i.e It estimates how relevant your item's title is to a search. It does NOT estimate how relevant that search is to your title.
